Assam: Foundation stone of Nalbari Medical College laid, 100 MBBS seats will be added

Guwahati: In order to give a new dimension to healthcare delivery service in the district, the construction of the Nalbari Medical College and Hospital at Borigaon has commenced. The Nalbari Medical College will be the 13th medical college of Assam and will mark a new dawn for healthcare development in the region


The foundation stone laying ceremony of the Nalbari Medical College was recently held under the presence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.


As reported by PTI, the Medical College will be constructed with a financial outlay of Rs 398.31 crore and will provide academic opportunities for 100 MBBS students per year.

Minister of Health and Family Welfare Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the state government had already sanctioned an amount of Rs 350 crore for the construction of the medical college.


He also informed that a 100-bed Cancer Hospital would also be set up in the same campus at a cost of Rs 19 crore.


He said the medical college will be completed in three years.

The State Chief Minister who laid the foundation stone of the medical college and offered Bhoomi Poojan on the occasion posted in his recent tweet that the Nalbari Medical College will be the 13th medical college of Assam and will mark a new dawn for healthcare development in the region.





Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal underlined the priorities of the state and central governments in unleashing a new era of development in every part of the country and said that laying of foundation stone of the Medical College at Nalbari is a testimony of their commitment, reports Sentinel Assam.
