Hyderabad:The two member bench of the High Court comprising of Justice Deepak Mishra and Justice N Nagappa on Thursday rejected the MCI’s special leave petitions. Instead the two member bench issued a counselling directive to fill up vacant seats of government medical colleges, at the post graduate level within two weeks.

The counselling will be limited to those students who have yet to get admissions. This is supposed to affect seat allotments in the state of Telangana , Andhra Pradesh and Delhi.

The division bench of the High Court had earlier issued a directive stating such counselling being be conducted even after the cut off date, would imply a huge dent on the public exchequer. Simhadri, appearing for petitioners Dr Apoorva and others, justified the high court order in view of the huge public wastage.

The bench rejected the arguments of VVS Rao who appeared for the In-Service Doctors. Senior counsel Prashant Bhushan appeared for the students from Delhi and Simhadri for the students from Hyderabad.
