AP: Dr NTR University of Health Sciences and Harvard Medical School announce partnership
Andhra Pradesh: According to the latest reports emerging, the Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare of Andhra Pradesh has given a go-ahead to forge a training link between the Dr NTR university of health sciences and Harvard Medical School.
The soon to be adopted Training to Excellence program of Harvard will include development of teaching methodologies, education and research.
The process of forging a partnership with HMS began in 2015 at NTRUHS, and with this new alliance the university is expected to install hi- tech accessibility at its premise. This will include HD video conferencing abilities and the medical college going completely going Wi-Fi, besides other things.
Skill laboratories will also be set up in medical colleges which will include cadaver laboratories, mannequins, bone models and virtual reality computerised workshops.
All the government medical colleges in the state will be provided with upgraded laptops/computers to access the journals/books of HMS-NTR consortium. A Wi-Fi facility will also be enabled in every college.
This development also makes NTR the first medical university in India to enter into a tie up with HMS. This decision also supports regular visits by HMS faculty to the NTR university campus. It is only expected to have a large impact on improving medical education standards in the state.
As reported by Hindu, in a G.O issued on Wednesday, the Department also allowed installation of a high definition video-conferencing facility that connects all medical colleges for telecasting lectures, procedures at bed-side clinics and surgeries from various national and international institutions.
NTRUHS Vice-Chancellor Dr. T. Ravi Raju had briefed the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu about the need for imparting quality medical education and training to medical students, for which he suggested various technological advances to be adopted, in a Chief Minister’s Review Committee meeting held in Vijayawada last month.
