Agartala: A three-member committee, formed to probe whether there was any negligence on the part of doctor during Anwara Chowdhury's treatment in Agartala Govt Medical College (AGMC) and subsequent issuance of death certificate, which was later appeared to be false.

Anwara Chowdhury was admitted in AGMC surgical ward on April 9 last and on the same day she breathes her last. But the attending doctor Shyam Sundar Saha gave report that cause of the death was 'cardiac arrest'.

The committee was asked to submit the report, said Medical Superintendent of AGMC Hospital Dr Subrata Baidya adding that various types of tests were carried out for Anwara's treatment but nothing was found wrong in the clinical judgments during treatment of Anwara at hospital.

Besides, he said only one doctor can't be blamed in case of any negligence as entire unit of a ward remains responsible for providing treatment to a patient.

"An inquiry has already been conducted into the matter and the report to be submitted to the state government. However, appropriate action will be taken if negligence is proved against anybody," he said.
