Another JIPMER campus to come at Sedarapet, Rs 900 crore MOU signed with CPWD
Puducherry: Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CPWD (Central Public Works Department) on Wednesday last for construction and development of its Sedarapet campus.
TheMoU was signed between JIPMER Puducherry and CPWD for the work of Construction of another JIPMER campus at Sedarapet, Puducherry costing approx Rs. 900 Crore in the presence of Shri Rakesh Aggarwal, Director, JIPMER & Shri. P.K. Singh, Special Director General, Project Region, Chennai.

The Jipmer release informed that JIPMER is planning to build an Institute of Organ transplantation and an Institute of Trauma and Rehabilitation in this campus.
The site is located at Sedarapet village on the Puducherry-Mailam route.
The institute would have facilities for transplant of liver, heart, lungs, pancreas, hands and bone marrow, the release said.

The Government of Puducherry has allotted 50 acres of land to Jipmer for the campus project. Jipmer will spend an estimated ₹900 crore on developing the campus infrastructure.
The CPWD, which has been chosen as the executing agency for the project, will appoint a design and architectural consultant to prepare a detailed project plan for the building and will supervise the construction.
The MoU was signed between Rakesh Aggarwal, Director, Jipmer, and and Special Director General, CPWD.
