ANM, GNM exam to be held in Oct: Vij
Chandigarh: Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij said that the examination of ANM and GNM would be held this year in October 2018 and result would be declared in December 2018.
Giving this information in the ongoing session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here on Monday, he said that at present, there are 168 ANM/GNM nursing schools in the state with the total number of 6,133 seats. The examination and results were monitored by the present State Government from November 2014 and with effect from November 2014, the examinations have been held regularly.
He said that 7,078 students would be appearing for the examination in October 2018 which would be conducted by Pt. B.D. Sharma University of Health Sciences, Rohtak. He said that 2,958 candidates are new and 4,120 have a compartment.
The Minister said that in order to streamline the admission, curriculum, examination and registration process associated with Nursing Education in the state, the government enacted a new act the Haryana Nurses and Nurses Mid Wives Act, 2017 and has established Haryana Nurses and Nurses Mid Wives Council which has replaced the then existing Haryana Nurses Registration Council. Now, Haryana Nurses and Nurses Mid Wives Council will regulate Nursing Education in the state.
Earlier, Haryana Nurses Registration Council (HNRC) had adopted Punjab Nurses Registration Act, 1932 and the representation of the State Government in the structure of the Executive Body or Governing Body of HNRC was very limited. The HNRC was functional with its limited mandate and was not able to cope with the ever-increasing demands in the field of nursing education.
The examination for the diploma courses (ANM and GNM) were being conducted by different bodies as decided by the State Government from time to time. The admission in ANM and GNM courses was being carried out by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Haryana through online combined counselling. Hence, there was a need to create a coherent and comprehensive overarching body in the state.
He said that the Haryana Nurses and Nurse Mid Wives Council will take effective steps for the conduct of examination for the ANM/GNM courses for the academic session 2017-18 in October 2018.
