Hyderabad: A number of cases related to medical admission saw movement at the Hyderabad High court in Tueday

In an important observation, An in-service doctor who works in a remote tribal area will be entitled to marks weight age when he or she seeks admission into a super specialty course. Justice Suresh Kumar Kait of Hyderabad High court stated this, while allowing a case filed by Dr. D. Gopal Rao, a government doctor from Warrangal.

The petitioner had complained to the court that the Telangana government and the Kaloji University of Health Sciences were not apportioning the 30% weight age marks for the presently on going super speciality admissions, to doctors seeking admission into these courses for the academic year 2016-17.

In reply to the petition filed by D. Gopal Rao, the court pointed out that “when that is the larger perspective and ideology behind the rural/remote/difficult area posting under the compulsory government Service formulation, certainly the in-service medical officers like the petitioner who have rendered rural/tribal service for almost 5 years , are entitled to weight age of marks as incentive.”
