Andhra Pradesh: VIMS gets a new Director in noted Neurosurgeon, K Satya Varaprasad

Visakhapatnam: The new Director appointee at Visakhapatnam Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS), noted Neurosurgeon, K Satya Varaprasad seems to hold promise for the institute, as he announced his priority to bring VIMS at par with NIMS Hyderabad. He made this announcement in his opening address to the media, on Thursday.


He promised to develop VIMS as the best super specialty hospital, by launching all the SS departments in the institute.


Having been Head, Department of Neurology, King George’s Hospital, Varaprasad said VIMS would be developed towards gaining a brand image for neurosurgeries in the future.


Dr. Prasad said VIMS has been offering services in 16 departments with a 250 beds capacity and hiring expert doctors’ as and when the need arises.


Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Vice-Chancellor, CV Rao who was also present on the occasion spoke of VIMS becoming a top medical research center in the future. Trauma care services would be introduced to reduce pressure on the KGH, he added. Revealing that the out-patient footfall had increased from 50 to 800 per day, Dr Rao said Varaprasad had been appointed to develop VIMS as the best hospital in Asia, reports Hans India.
