Andhra Pradesh: RMPs and Paramedics to receive guideline based training

A nine member committee has been constituted by the government of Andhra Pradesh to frame guidelines for training paramedical personnel. The report has to be submitted within a period of two weeks.


The committee will be headed by Director, Health, & would include Commissioner, Vaidya Vidhana Parishad, Director, Medical Education, Registrar, AP Medical Council, Additional Commissioner, Ayush and two legal experts as members.


According to The Hindu, the committee is meant to look into training, examination, certification of Registered Medical Practitioners, Private Medical Practitioners, paramedics, according to Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas . It would examine the national guidelines and the guidelines to be adopted for the State without any legal issues, he added.


Further a paramedical board would also be set up and the committee would be assigned the task of submitting a report on the funds and human resources required for training and refresher courses.


Streamlining of RMP's, PMP's & paramedics was given by C.M. N. Chandrababu Naidu during his election campaign.52,000 Registered Medical Practitioners, Private Medical Practitioners, paramedical personnel would be given a one year training constituting modules in theory & practical classes in hospitals, rural areas and mobile medical care units.


Preliminary discussions about setting up of a cancer treatment unit on a 30,000 sq ft plot is under way. It was proposed by pharma major Natco at Guntur Government Hospital at a cost of Rs.16 crore. Once the proposal is underway, it would provide thousands a cancer care facility.
