Andhra Pradesh : MCI approval granted to 3 new medical colleges

Visakhapatnam:The Medical Council of India (MCI), has given its approval nod to three new medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh for commencement of their academic sessions for the year 2016-17. All three medical institutions come under the jurisdiction of NTR University of Health Sciences at Vijayawada.


The approved colleges are: RVS Institute of Medical Sciences, Chittoor; Gayathri Vidya Parishad Institute of Medical Care and Health Technology at Marikavalasa , National Highway, Visakhapatnam & Nimra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ibrahimpatnam, Vijayawada. All of them have been granted, a 150 student intake.


The existing strength of seats for MBBS courses,under the NTR University of Health Sciences is 3000; the number will rise by another 450 with the present MCI approval to the three new colleges.


The Medical Council of India has expressed satisfaction over the facilities being provided to the students by these colleges. However, it has directed the MCI to comply with all norms within the allotted three month period and also make available a Rs. 2 Crore bank guarantee.
