Andhra Pradesh: Kamineni asks Centre for more NEET-UG exam centres

Vijaywada: The Health Minister, Kamineni Srinivasa Rao is all set to discuss the allotment of more exam centres for NEET UG exam with the Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, JP Nadda.The Minister was of the view that more exam centres for NEET UG were required, as students might face hurdles reaching from one corner of the state to the other.


“Apart from the Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam centres, we also demand to set up one in Kurnool, Tirupati and Rajamahendravaram. We will also request the Ministry to reduce the qualifying marks for the students of AP, as majority of the medical seats would remain vacant," he added.


The Minister revealed the above plans at a departmental review meeting here on Wednesday. He also discussed the implementation of the ‘Arogya Suraksha ‘Scheme and other issues at this meeting.


He revealed that a 110 NTR diagnostics centres had received an ISO certification and other mother labs had been accredited with an NABL certification. “We are also engaging equipment maintenance contract where any emergency equipment like CT Scan, Cathlab, etc., would be repaired or replaced in 48 hours. Also, experienced persons would be appointed to work on these machines. Dialysis centres at Uddanam, to be set up by April 5, will have all amenities to meet the medical requirements,” he explained to TNIE.
