Andhra Pradesh: A. Raghurama Rao, New Director, NIPER

Hyderabad: The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, Punjab has found its new Director in Senior Professor, A. Raghurama Rao of Kakatiya University Pharmacy College. Prof Rao who received a communiqué to this effect on Tuesday, has been appointed for a period of 5 years.


Having enjoyed an illustrious teaching and research graph of 30 years in the field of Pharmacy, Prof Rao has guided 24 research scholars for their Ph.D., 10 major research projects; published research papers in national and international journals.


Honoured with Best Teacher award by the Telangana government in 2016, Dr Rao has been the recipient of Dr. Mrs. Manjushree Pal Memorial Award in 2010 and Young Teachers Award in 1995 instituted by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), reports Hindu.


Dr. Rao has visited UAE, USA and Germany for researches conducted by him. He was congratulated on his selection as Director, NIPER by faculty members, research scholars and students

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. The Government of India has declared National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), as an 'Institute of National Importance'.


It is an autonomous body set up under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. The Institute is conceived to provide leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and related areas not only within the country, but also to the countries in South East Asia, South Asia and Africa.


National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research is a member of Association of Indian Universities and Association of Commonwealth Universities.
