Hyderabad: The Union Health Minister JP Nadda's announcement of 4000 more new PG medical seats for government colleges all across the country, has landed Telangana with 30 new PG seats.

The two factors that act as the force behind this announcement are the increased teacher student ratio and the skill of professors based on the number of articles published. The best part of the announcement is that the new quota does not call for a nod from the MCI, say officials..

Colleges can apply for these seats showing their strength to the Health Ministry and permission for additional seats would be granted.

"Next Thursday is the last date for applying for the seats and we are hoping that we can get a minimum of 30 seats for Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal," Director of Medical Education, Dr Ramani, told TOI.

Officials predict bright possibilities for Gandhi Medical College being granted a few more seats. . "Kakatiya and Gandhi Medical Colleges can get at least 30 PG medical seats together," a senior MED predicted. Andhra Pradesh is likely to get a kitty of 200 seats in its government medical colleges. However, colleges have yet to apply for these seats, and hope to get a government nod for the same.

The Mahbubnagar Medical College will be given a second year extension, as the MCI pointed discrepancies have lessened to a mere 20 in number now. After this 120 seat undergraduate college was pointed at, for shortcomings by the MCI, the government was prompt in sending remedial measures, for them to the MCI. Based on these remedial measures, the MCI cut down the list of shortcomings to 20.
