Chennai: The Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital medical intern’s sexual harassment inquiry against an assistant professor has not come forth with any conclusions. Sources reveal that the educational body has decided to wait for the inquiry report of the Villupuram district police.

The victim’s father confessed to not having heard from the college authorities yet."My daughter, my wife and I appeared for the inquiry on November 8. My daughter narrated the sequences of events to the inquiry committee. The committee also sought the presence of my brother-in-law, who is working in the same college. My daughter spoke about the harassment first to him and later to my wife. The committee also questioned students for two days," the father narrated to Times of India. He pledged to take the battle to its end by going all out to prove the sexual harassment charges against the assistant professor.

"Thirty-two students have pledged their support and sought an inquiry. The hospital authorities have launched attempts to isolate my daughter from other students threatening that their future will be at stake if they extend support. My daughter had applied long leave and is currently at home," he told TOI.

He revealed that the further course of action to be taken by him would depend on the contents of the inquiry report.

"There are people, whom I don't wish to name, openly declaring that we are wasting our time and energy," he said.

The Medical Dialogues team had last month reported that a complaint had been lodged by the victim to the Dean and a copy of it was sent to Director, Medical Education, and Vice-Chancellor, Dr MGR University, Chennai.

The complaint filed by the victim had stated that she had been touched inappropriately several times, while on duty, on October 22nd by an Assistant Professor, from the Department of Surgery.
