AIIMS UG medical course results declared

AIIMS has announced the results of its UG medical courses yesterday. While there were reported technical issues with the site crashing, even for hours, many medical aspirants had to spend anxious moments. However, Aarushi with All-India Rank (AIR) 10 emerged as the clear winner, being declared as the tricity topper. Japnoor Kaur with AIR 32 followed close. Next on the list were Tanish Modi and Mukund Garg, featuring in top 100 AIR with AIRs 68 and 69, respectively.

Aarushi is a student of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 19 in Chandigarh and is elated on the news along with her parents. Chander Kiran, her mother said to HT that, “I am really happy with my daughter’s success. She has always been an outstanding student and scored well in Classes 10 and 12 as well. She always wanted to be a doctor and has worked towards her aim diligently.”

A student of Government Model School, Sector 19, Arushi evinced interest in medicine at a very young age. “Ever since I was a child, I wanted to study medicine in order to be able to save lives. I am glad that I will now be able to live this dream,” Arushi told Chandigarh Newsline. She now wants to get admission to AIIMS, New Delhi.

Talking about how she prepared for the examination, Arushi said, “It is all about how much hard work you are willing to put in, it is very important to study regularly.”

MD team had earlier reported how students from Chandigarh and Panchkula, who did not have a centre in their own cities, had to opt for the nearby centres of Mohali, Banur, Ropar, Baddi, Patiala, and Ambala. Then, there were problems reported at the centre, as both the shifts of the exam, witnessed students suffering from discomfort due to no water, long distance travelling and even, poor ventilation in the examination room. However, the teething problems did not stop the students from showing good results.

Rank holders can now seek admission to AIIMS-Delhi and six other AIIMS at Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur, Patna, Raipur and Rishikesh basis the results. Over 3.5 lakh students in the country are reported to have appeared for the medical entrance test conducted by AIIMS. The premier institute offers 672 MBBS seats seeking admission in AIIMS Delhi and six AIIMS-like institutions in the country

HT also reported that these are tricity toppers that emerged till the filing of this report since the AIIMS website server was down. Some students could not access results till Tuesday night.

Japnoor Kaur, a student of Shishu Niketan School, Sector 43, secured AIR 32. “It is important to revise subjects the same day you learn them. In addition to this, the main thing is to ensure that you clearly understand the concepts,” Kaur told Chandigarh Newsline. She wants to opt for AIIMS, New Delhi, and wants to do research in genetics later.

Shivam Singla, who scored AIR 37, wants to take up a career in neurology and will hopefully apply for AIIMS, New Delhi. His parents work as dentists in the city.

Tanish Modi, whose parents work at PGIMER, scored AIR 68. “I have always been inspired by my parents. Now I want to study to be a radiologist or a neurologist, just like them,” Tanish said, adding that regular studies were the key to scoring good marks in the entrance exam.

Mukund Garg, who scored AIR 69, wants to study to be a cardiologist in the future. His father works as a chartered accountant in the city and his mother is a housewife. “It is only hard work that makes you realise your goals. Just work hard, and success will be yours,” he said.
