Rishikesh: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Rishikesh has invited applications for High Altitude Medicine Certificate Course for January 2020 session.

CERTIFICATE COURSE:

i) Certificate Course in High Altitude Medicine: At the end of certificate course in High Altitude Medicine, the candidate will have concept and knowledge about the following:

a) Physiological effects of the high altitude environment on the human body

b) Physiological basis of acclimatization to high altitude

c) Pathophysiological basis of high altitude illnesses

d) Treatment of high altitude illness as per internationally acceptable guidelines (The candidate must acquire the skill to diagnose and treat patients suffering HA illness

e) Strategies to prevent high altitude illness

f) Guidelines for travel to high altitude for special population groups
like children, pregnant women, patients with cardio-respiratory
disorders

NUMBER OF SEATS

(a) Certificate Course in High Altitude Medicine (For Medical Candidate) Medical – 06 (UR – 05, OBC – 01)

(b) Certificate Course in High Altitude Medicine (For Para-Medical
Candidate) Para-Medical – 06 (UR – 05, OBC – 01)

Duration of Course:

1. Certificate Course in High Altitude Medicine - 6 months

Academic session will commence from 01 January 2020. Selected candidates have to join with timeline indicated by Academic Section, AIIMS Rishikesh in offer letter issued to respective candidate. No candidate will be admitted in courses in any circumstances beyond 29th February 2020 of year of admission.

Eligibility Criteria:

For Medical Candidate: MBBS OR B.A.M.S/ B.H.MS. with one year experience.

For Paramedical Candidate: B.Sc. Nursing OR GNM with one-year experience,

B.Sc. Paramedical, M.Sc. (Human Physiology).

Note: 2. a) Candidates who are to appear in qualifying examination whose results are likely to be declared before 31st December, 2019 are also eligible to apply for Certificate Course in High Altitude Medicine.

b) Candidates who are due to appear at qualifying examination, or have already appeared and are awaiting result, can also apply for admission. But such candidates must furnish proof of passing qualifying examination with requisite percentage of marks and subjects at time of admission, failing which their candidature will be cancelled.

METHOD OF SELECTION

Selections for certificate course in High Altitude Medicine are made through written examination & interview.

Stage I: Written test carrying 80 marks of 90 minutes duration in subject candidate has applied for. Question paper will consist of 80 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

Stage II: Out of candidates who have secured 50 percentile or more marks in written test (Stage-I), candidates 3 times number of seats advertised will be called for departmental clinical/practical/lab based assessment (carrying 20 marks).

Final Selection: Final result will be declared based on total marks obtained in stage-I and Stage-II Examination.
