AIIMS Entrance 2018: Punjab Girls Bag the Top 3 Ranks

Chandigarh: A proud day for Punjab with three of its young girls Eliza Bansal, (Sangrur), Bathinda's Ramneek Kaur Mahal and Mehak Arora having bagged AIR1, AIR 2 and AIR 3 positions in the AIIMS Entrance Exam, respectively. Mohali's Manraj Singh Sra also earned Punjab an honour by securing AIR 4 position for it.


Eliza (17), a topper in the prestigious AIIMS MBBS exam this year wants to be a cardiologist and serve her own hometown Lahragaga, a fact confirmed by her equally proud father Vijay Kumar. "Our area is considered backward as there are no qualified doctors here, " he added.


"Eliza wants to be a cardiologist and serve in Lehragaga", said Vijay Kumar, the teen's proud father. Eliza has scored a perfect 100 percentile in biology and physics, 99.94 percentile in chemistry and 97.87 percentile in general knowledge in the AIIMS test.


Our area is considered backward, as there are no qualified doctors here, he added. Eliza's father is an economics teacher in a government school in Sangrur.


Her father stated that Eliza studied for seven to eight hours every day.


"Eliza stayed away from social media and used her mobile only for study purposes," he added to the Hindustan Times.


Bansal secured the 196th position in this year's National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).


Eliza, along with the two other students from Punjab who were among the top four Bathinda's Ramneek Kaur Mahal and Mohali's Manraj Singh Sra was congratulated by the state Chief Minister Amarinder Singh who tweeted to them saying."You've all done Punjab proud. Best wishes for the future & hope to see you become great doctors in the service of mankind," the Chief Minister tweeted.


The Second rank holder , also a girl, Ramneek Kaur Mahal a Bhatinda resident and daughter of Dr Amanjeet Singh Mahal, a medical officer in a government hospital, and gynaecologist mother, Ramneek attributes a lot to her parents' sacrifice and support.

Mehak Arora, the third position holder & topper from the Tricity in the AIIMS MBBS 2018 entrance Test attributes her success to her father's unexpected death due to medical negligence. She says his death helped her in aiming to pursue the medical stream. "I was in Class VII, when I lost my father. My mother tells me he just had a toothache. The doctor gave him some injection and he died. So, I want to become a doctor and save lives," said this young Panchkula resident from Sector 11, to the TOI


Besides Punjab, the state of Rajasthan also earned laurels of victory with the coaching class in its capital Kota, well known for outstanding performance by its students doing a repeat on Monday with nine students from the cities institute, becoming the top 10, in the AIIMS MBBS entrance test 2018.


Institute Director, Brajesh Maheshwari confirming the brilliant performance on the part of the students revealed that Kota's Allen Career Institute had bagged All India Rank with achievers of AIR 2 to 10 having trained at the institute.


According to him 3 of these 9 students were enrolled in the distance learning program, giving their names as - Eishvauk Aggarwal (AIR 10), Manraj Sra (AIR 4), and Ramneek Kaur Mahal (AIR 2).


The other six names from the institute are Mehak Arora (AIR 3), Amitabh Pankaj Chauhan (AIR 5), Abdur Rehman Asrarul Haque (AIR 6), Sangeet Rathi (AIR 7), Amulya Gupta (AIR 8) and Somal Aggarwal (AIR 9). These six happenSangeet Rathi to be from the classroom program of the institute.


In the OBC and scheduled caste category,Pankaj Chauhan has bagged the AIR 1 position; with Prince Chaudhary (AIR 18) topping the OBC category, added Mr Maheshwari of the institute.


He furthermore stated, that 34 students of the institute were among the top 50.


The faculty of Allen Career Institute Mr. Maheshwari looking back into the past proudly made it to the Limca Book of Records last year after its students bagged all the top ten ranks in the AIIMS MBBS exam, Mr Maheshwari told ND TV


The AIIMS exam conducted on 26th and 27th May are held for gaining admissions at AIIMS Patna, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Bhubaneswar AIIMS New Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Rishikesh, Raipur, Guntur, and Nagpur.


The MBBS entrance exam for AIIMS is held for admissions to courses at AIIMS- New Delhi, Patna, Bhopal, Jodhpur, Bhubaneswar, Rishikesh, Raipur, Guntur, and Nagpur.


Interestingly, the number of NEET qualifiers happens to be 4 times the number of seats available for admission.
