Puducherry: AIADMK (Amma) legislature party leader A Anbazhagan urged a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in Medical Admissions (both PG and UG) for the last three years.

Talking to newspersons, Mr Anbazhagan said that he would write to the CBI as well as to the Union Home Ministry in this regard.

He alleged that the development of the Union Territory was severely affected and the government machinery was paralysed as the Lt.Governor and Chief Minister were indulging in cheap publicity and no constructive steps were taken for the people of Puducherry in the just concluded budget session of the Assembly. Stating that the ruling party used the session as a platform to criticize the Lt.Governor, he said the Lt.Governor in turn is sharply criticizing the elected government and leveling "baseless" allegations. Since, both are at loggerheads, the Centre should recall the Lt.Governor, Mr Anbazhagan said.

Alleging that law and order situation has deteriorated in the Union Territory and the government had failed on all fronts, he demanded that the government be suspended for six months.

The Union Home ministry also failed to initiate action against the Lt.Governor and the elected government, he charged. Alleging that the Lt.Governor is violating the oath of secrecy she had taken at the time of swearing in, Mr Anabzhagan said that injustice was done to the Puducherry students in the medical admission and both the LG or the government failed to act on the issue.

He said four counsellings were conducted by 'Centac' for PG Medical Admission and even at the time of the third counselling, tution fees for the private medical colleges and the Deemed Universities were fixed. Hence, the Lt.Governor and the Chief Minister should tender an apology to the local students. The AIADMK leader also said that the private medical colleges are refusing to admit students on the basis of the Madras High Court order.
