AHRCC to offer PG courses in oncology, gastroenterology, pathology, anesthesiology

Cuttack: The Government run Cancer Hospital, Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre (AHRCC) will soon be starting postgraduate courses in 4 departments. These include head and neck oncology, medical gastroenterology, pathology and anesthesiology.


This decision was taken at the annual general body meeting of AHRCC held last week.


"We have got the green signal to start new courses. We will send a report in this regard to the state government," said Rudra Das, the administrative officer of AHRC. The Medical Council of India will be asked for permission after the necessary clearance is got from the state government by the AHRCC.


According to the hospital authorities, the institution needs to expand to facilitate improved healthcare and deal with rising patient footfall. MCh courses in surgical oncology and gynaecological oncology, with two seats in each department, were launched by the hospital.


The 400-bed hospital serves patients from Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal too reports TOI.
