Agra: The state government has decided to set up a super speciality wing at the Sarojini Naidu Medical College(SNMC) in an effort to provide quality medical services at affordable rates to the people of the state, informed the State Cabinet Minister, Technical and Medical Education, Ashutosh Tandon .
Mr Tandon said he will be signing a memorandum of understanding with Union cabinet minister for health and family JP Nadda on February 25 for setting up a super specialty wing at SNMC.The project expenses costing Rs 200 crore will be borne jointly by both the state and the Centre under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.
A spot inspection of SN Medical College was conducted by Tandon on Sunday afternoon He went around the old outpatient department (OPD) where the super speciality wing is proposed to be set in an area spanning 2,000 square metres.
With a 260-bed capacity and a 52-bed intensive care unit the wing is to be ready in three years, SNMC, Principal, Saroj Singh told TOI.
Specialized medical services in cardiology, urology, endocrinology, pulmonary medicine, gastroenterology, nephrology, rheumatology and medical oncology will be provided at the institute.
This installation would help in knowing about the availability of medical reports, and medicines, and the online fixing of doctor appointments. Patients at SNMC will be able to get generic and branded medicines at affordable rates through Amrit Pharmacy, he further added. The facility is supposed to get operational in the next two months.
