Admissions 2019: Maha CET Cell further extends dates for Joining, Status Retention of MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS courses

Mumbai: The dates for Joining & Filling Status Retention Form of MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS and BUMS candidates has been further extended by the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell (Maha CET Cell).


All Colleges where candidates are allotted seat in 2nd round of MBBS/BDS and 1st round of BAMS/BUMS/BHMS should remain open till 12th August 2019 up to 05:00 pm.

The information to this effect comes from a recent notice uploaded on the official website of Maha CET Cell which clearly mentions the following:

In view of heavy rainfall, flood-like conditions in some parts of the State and transportation being affected, many candidates through their email have shown their inability to reach the allotted college till the extended time as per Notice No. 25 it is therefore decided that -


1. Selected candidates preferably can join allotted college, if possible.


2. All such candidates who are unable to reach the allotted college for joining should give their joining to the nearest Government/Government aided Medical/Ayurvedic Colleges on or before 12th August 2019 up to 05:00 pm (Please refer Annexure - A)


All Government/Government aided Medical/Ayurvedic Colleges should admit the above-mentioned candidates by following the instructions as mentioned in Instruction to Colleges and submit the report of such admitted candidates to The State CET Cell, Mumbai. All Colleges where candidates are allotted seat in 2nd round of MBBS/BDS and 1st round of BAMS/BUMS/BHMS should remain open till 12th August 2019 up to 05:00 pm.


Medical Dialogues had reported that in a bonanza to medical aspirants intending to pursue MBBS from Maharashtra based medical colleges, over 970 MBBS seats have been added corresponding to the implementation of Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) quota by MCI, while for next academic session, 2,000 more MBBS seats will be added.


Approval was given by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Board of Governors in supersession of Medical Council of India (MCI BoG) to increase the MBBS seats in view the EWS reservation in over 132 medical colleges.


By the MCI and Ministry’s nod, 20 medical colleges from Maharashtra succeeded in raising their MBBS seats by 970 in total.
