The Minister for Health, Malladi Krishna Rao has communicated to the Sri Venkateshwara Medical College and Hospital and Mahe Medical College to allot 50% seats to Government Quota. The Minister’s directive comes following Medical Council of India’s directive that the admission process be completed by August 31.

When asked, the Minister informed that the two colleges had allotted only 35% of the seats. “This academic year, we want to ensure that they shared 50 per cent of their seats,” he added.

He further stated that the government awaited a court decision on the proposed 85% seat reservation to State board students and 15% for others in MBBS and BDS courses in T.N.

“We will wait till Friday and decide on the counselling dates for management quota seats. If Tamil Nadu gets a relaxation, it might apply here as well. This will benefit the students of Puducherry,”the minister said.

Only the first round of counselling has been completed till now, with the management quota seat counselling still to happen.

The Directorate of Education had informed students that it might remit fee and get reimbursement from Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Financial Assistance, reports the Hindu.
