7 AIIMS students suspended for ragging juniors, indiscipline

New Delhi: Seven B.Sc students of Optometry and Nuclear medicine at the AIIMS here has been suspended for three months for allegedly indulging in ragging and indiscipline.


According to an official at the AIIMS, recently some first-year B.Sc students were allegedly ragged by the seven seniors that led to a scuffle between them in which a student suffered injuries.


One of the students reported the matter to the administration and the AIIMS police post. A police official said that the two parties later reached a compromise so no case was registered.


However, the AIIMS administration took a serious note of the incident and ordered setting up of an anti-ragging committee to probe the matter, the official, who did not wish to be named, said.


"The committee took a serious note of the episode and the decision to suspend seven students for three months has been taken," the official added.
