50 MBBS inductions at AIIMS Mangalagiri launch the giant medical facility

Vijayawada: The first 50 MBBS student batch (2018-2019) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences,(AIIMS) Mangalagiri for its MBBS course has been inducted at the Siddhartha Medical College (SMC).

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that The 50 student first semester at AIIMS Mangalagiri was scheduled to commence session in 2018-19, with a temporary campus at Siddharth Medial College in Vijayawada being set up . The student strength will also be increased gradually in the coming years.

With the MBBS admissions now over, the induction took place on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion AIIMS-M Special Officer T.S. Ravi Kumar, the Chief Guest, urged the students to not just grow towards becoming go but also discharge their obligations as doctors with both empathy and humility reported Hindu.

Citing examples of Ignaz Semmelweis and Edward Jenner (founder of the smallpox vaccine) Sushruta (the ancient physician who authored Sushruta Samhita)and Pandit Madhusudan Gupta (pioneer of western medicine in India) as contributors to advancing healthcare special officer, T.S. Ravi Kumar urged these future doctors to follow in their footsteps. He asked them to foster happy health communities, which was also the theme of the event.

AIIMS-M Nodal Officer and Deputy Director (administration) Shramdeep Sinha , Dean Joy A. Ghoshal and SMC, Principal, R. Sasank, were among those present.

The state-of-the-art 'Sushruta', AIIMS lecture gallery of future'was inaugurated by Dr. Ravi Kumar earlier.

A demonstration of cardiopulmonary resuscitation was conducted by Sachin Menon and Gowtham along with trainers from the Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati.

Dr Kumar informed the press that the OPD at Mangalagiri and the in the patient wing would reach their completion in 2019 and 2020, respectively. A Central Government run AMRIT (Affordable Medicines and Reliable Implants for Treatment) Pharmacy and a Hind Lab, would come up during the same period.

A 'kick tobacco and embrace life' campaign on Twitter was launched by the students of the AIIMS-M. The induction program ended with parents presenting their wards with white coats.
