4 Gandhi Medical College MBBS students Suspended for Ragging, Verbal Abuse

Bhopal: Four second-year Gandhi Medical College MBBS students have been issued suspension orders for 6 months for alleged verbal abuse and ragging of first-year students on the terrace for more than six hours, after a complaint to this effect was lodged with the National Anti-ragging helpline.


The ragging incident took place on Monday night when the colleges Ist year students residing in the ‘B’ block hostel of the medical college were asked to gather on the terrace of the building where they were later ragged for approximately 6 hours. However, the college administration denies the allegation.


"The students found guilty of the offense have been suspended from medical college and from attending classes for six months. From our investigation, the ragging took place for about two hours," Gandhi Medical College Dean, Dr MC Songra told the TOI.


After having been ragged for over six hours one of the 1st year MBBS victims lodged a complaint with the National Anti-Ragging Helpline. Following which the GMC administration swung into action.


According to sources, the bunch that faced the wrath of their seniors have alleged verbal abuse. They have also alleged for having been made to stand in the open for long hours. It is yet to be ascertained where the hostel in charge Dr. Lalwani was during the entire unruly act.
