4 FNB qualifications converted into DNB: NBE issues notice

New Delhi: After receiving several requests from FNB candidates, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has converted 4 FNB Qualifications to DNB in Fellowship Courses which have been transited to DNB courses.


The notification of this effect was recently issued on the official website of NBE.


The following FNB programmes have been transited to three-years Post Doctoral DNB programme:
 Cardiac Anaesthesia
 Paediatric Cardiology
 Critical Care Medicine
 Paediatric Intensive Care

Via its notice, the NBE has informed that FNB qualification holders in above specialities have been writing to NBE for an opportunity to convert their FNB qualification to DNB qualification in the respective speciality.


Considering that, the following scheme has been approved by NBE to allow the conversion of FNB qualification to DNB qualification in the same speciality.


Entry Examination: The applicant will have to qualify NEET-SS and a common speciality specific merit list shall be generated along with other candidates who had applied for NEET-SS in the same speciality. The allotment of seats shall be done through merit-based counselling.


Training: Desirous candidate will have to undergo two-years Post FNB training programme in the same speciality in a centre accredited by NBE. For e.g. an applicant with FNB Cardiac Anaesthesia qualification will be required to undergo two-years training in a hospital accredited by NBE for DNB Cardiac Anaesthesia.


Exit Examination: The applicant will have to qualify the DNB Final Exit Examination in the concerned DNB Super Specialty. Successful candidates shall be conferred as DNB qualification in the concerned speciality.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported about the revised training charges and fee guidelines applicable for DNB and FNB candidates who have registered for the 2019 admission session.

The tuition charges for DNB and FNB candidates for this year will be Rs 75,000. The fees shall be collected annually and has to be paid by the trainee at the start of each academic year.
