3rd year MBBS student at Govt Kilpauk Medical College commits suicide
Chennai: A student of Government Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital suffering from a depression due to family circumstances committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of a rented accommodation. He lived with his mother. His father had separated from his mother years ago.
According to the police, the victim, Thirumal, a 3rd-year student of medicine, hailed from Krishnagiri, and was a good student and had scored high marks in his’ Plus Two’ examinations.
He is believed to have taken his life in his Nerkundram house, while his mother was away for a few days. The depression is also believed to have resulted due to his mother’s absence from home. He is believed to have shared a deep bond with his mother.
Thirumal's first attempt to take his life involved cutting of his vein in the absence of his mother and being spotted by a friend, who had him hospitalized, immediately, at the Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital, reported the Hindu.
Two days later, the boy spoke at length to his mother over the phone. He also connected with his friends, who were looking after him on his phone But before they could reach him at his house, he hung himself. The police had recovered a suicide note from the house.
