3 Shops sealed by administration on MKCG Medical College for alleged irreglarities

Berhampur: Three medicine shops located on the premises of the MKCG Medical College and Hospital were sealed on Wednesday night, by the Ganjam District Administration over alleged irregularities in records.


The shops which were raided by the Drug Inspector and Additional Tehsildar were checked for medicine stock and documents.


The raid on the shops led to the drug shop owners to meet up with the Sub Collector and complain to him about the futility of the raid and subsequent sealing.


A drug seller, Niranjan Dalai, said, “Though we have followed the guidelines we don’t know why the district administration sealed the shops.”


Earlier on after the launch of Niramaya Yojana, the state government had requested for the closure of shops. The owners of the shops, however, moved the Orissa High Court and got themselves a stay on the government’s decision of closure of their premises.


On the night of closure, patient attendants faced inconvenience ..


According to an attendant “Relatives of patients with heart complications or accident victims are finding it difficult to get medicines after shops have been sealed.”
