3 private medical colleges in Puducherry have 96 vacant seats

Puducherry: The Centralized Admission Committee (Centac) conducted mop up counselling has ended with 96 MBBS seats continuing to remain vacant in 3 medical colleges of Puducherry.


Following are the colleges and their remaining vacant seats:




  • Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College-37 seats

  • Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences-22 seats

  • Sri Venkateswaraa Medical College-37 seats


247 seats were allotted by the committee under the management quota( with 52 converted from the non-resident Indian quota), 17 under the NRI quota (including six seats in Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, IGMC & RI).


The Committee reserved six seats(three in IGMC & RI and one each in Pims, SMVMC, and SVMC) and 4 students surrendered their seats.


148 demand drafts were received by the Committee towards fee from the students and handed them over to the concerned colleges. the committee also sought the colleges to submit their vacancy details, in order to send the merit list of students in the ratio of 1:10 to the colleges', reports TOI.
