3 day medical admission counselling extention granted to MP: SC

A three-day extension was granted for admission counselling to Medical and Dental Colleges in Madhya Pradesh by the Supreme Court .


A Bench comprising Justice L. Nageswara Rao and Justice S.A. Bobde passed the order on a fresh application filed by Directorate of Medical Education,(DME), Madhya Pradesh. The plea sought an extension for complying with the directions issued in connection with NEET counseling by the Jabalpur Bench of the High Court.

This was in furtherance of the 29th August order issued by the Supreme Court, directing the Madhya Pradesh Government to draw up a fresh list of candidates, for medical admission. The directive also ordered the removal of those who had secured admissions through fake domicile registrations.

A bench led by Justice S.A. Bobde had on that occasion directed:




“Looking to the extraordinary circumstances, we consider it appropriate to grant 10. days’ time from today to the petitioners-State to comply with the directions given by the High Court vide the impugned order. We order accordingly.”



The apex court rejecting the challenge to the High Court order, issued on a Petition filed by Ms. Tarishi Verma and several others alleging fraudulently secured admissions by several other state candidates, had stated:




“It is directed that the state authorities shall conduct counselling, draw up a list of candidates eligible under the date quota by taking into consideration and treating as final the option and information regarding the State to which the candidate belongs that has been furnished by him in the NEET form submitted by him”
