27 PG medical seats granted by MCI to Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad: Health Minister, Telangana, C Laxma Reddy announced a 27 PG medical seat increase in Telangana for this year as the Medical Council of India has given permission for one-time enhancement of 21 new seats in government colleges and six seats in NIMS.


The Minister, said “The improvement of facilities and implementation of new technology in government hospitals is one of the main reasons why additional seats are granted. With this increase in seats, more medical services in different specializations will be made available to the people of Telangana.”

Following is the 27 seat break up :


2 seats-MD Anesthesiology & 1 MD Pulmonary Medicine have gone to Gandhi Medical College. Kakathiya Medical College, Warangal, has been given 1 seat each in MD Dermatology, MS ENT (Ear-Nose-Throat), and MS Ophthalmology; while 5 have gone to MD OBGYN (Obstetrics and gynaecology), and 3 to MD Radiodiagnosis at the same college.


Osmania Medical College has been granted 4 seats in MD OBGYN and 3 in MS ENT; while 6 MD- Anesthesiology seats have been granted to NIMS, reports TOI.
