2 years mandatory service in the state hospitals after MBBS: Haryana HM

Chandigarh: The Haryana Government is considering making 2 years service in the state hospitals mandatory for all doctors completing their MBBS from Haryana. The Health Minister, Anil Vij spoke about the proposal being under consideration, in a reply to a question raised by Congress MLA, Kiran Chaudhary, during the on going Haryana Vidhan Sabha session on Tuesday, reports the Tribune.

Mr. Vij also informed that the compulsory service proposal was being legally examined, and if implemented, would end all doctor shortage in the state. Doctors can also be posted in their home district, as the government has repealed the law that stopped them from being posted in their home districts, since the days of the British.

The Health Minister also informed that an advertisement had been released lately, for recruitment of 662 doctors, in view of the growing need. Around 1800 applications have been received in response to the advertisement and the process for selection would begin soon, he added. Last year also recruitment was done to provide better healthcare facilities to the state.

The Health Minister also informed of the department's decision to transfer doctors online from next month to meet hospital requirements in the state.

Indicating that the health sector had undergone significant improvement during the tenure of the present government, the Minister said that there had been a significant rise in patient footfall, at various government hospital OPDs. A patient increase of 19.17 percent has been observed at various government hospitals he added, reports the TOI.
