Trichy: A 16 slice full body CT scanner worth Rs. 1.48 crore installed in Pudukkottai Government Medical College and Hospital on Monday. The new addition is indeed expected to benefit the medical college and hospital as it will shorten the time span required for a full body scan, becoming crucial for timely diagnosis especially in RTA cases

Tamil Nadu Health Minister, C Vijaya Baskar who inaugurated the scanner said the installation will save people a treatment trip to the neighbouring Trichy and Thanjavur districts.

"The new scanner imported from Japan can perform full body scan within five minutes. It takes more than 20 minutes with the existing scanner," Pudukkottai Medical College, Dean, Dr S Saradha. There is no risk of radiation and quality of the output will be better, told TOI.
