14 inconsistencies in PMET 2016- BHUFS informs Court

Chandigarh:The Punjab and Haryana High Court has been informed by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) that unlike the claimed 110 questions, only 14 of the Pre-Medical Entrance Test (PMET) question paper are to be termed invalid- due to inconsistencies. This has been declared by experts who examined the question papers. PMET is conducted by universities for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in the private and government colleges of the states

SP Singh, University Registrar refuted all reports of a 110 discrepancies in PMET-2016 in court.His statement was based on expert reports. According to the university for the 14 questions declared invalid equal weight age was to be given to all candidates, based on expert opinion. In the Zoology Set -1 test paper, the necessary answer key change has been made as per expert recommendation and marks accorded.

The University counsel Anupam Gupta informed the court that the university had exercised the choice of a percentile system of normalising scores. This method he said was used by the country’s credible examination systems.He cited the example of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), and NEET. Justifying the contention of the exam being held in two parts, the university cited the NEET example of a two shift entrance test. The university further argued that the percentile system was adopted as an academic practice for score normalisation in shift entrance tests.

The university was responding to a petition filed by Ravneet Kaur and others asking for the cancellation of PMET 2016 result declared on the percentile system of evaluation; which the petition claimed was contradictory to the exam provisions. The petitioners had also sought re conduction of the June 10 exam. The petition is now to be heard on the 9^th of August.
