123 MGM college MBBS students pay examination fee twice; retrieval becomes difficult

Indore: Mahatma Gandhi Medical College’s 123 first prof MBBS students have been having a tough time retrieving their examination fee deposited twice by them. Some of them are having a harrowing time as they had borrowed money from teachers and friends to pay up the sum. The college administration is believed to have sent several reminders to the Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur, however, they are yet to hear from it regarding the matter.


The MGM Medical College administration has sent multiple reminders to Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University, Jabalpur in this regard but to no avail. One of the students who paid twice and is part of the ordeal said. “University had asked us to fill examination form offline with a fee of Rs 5,350 in August 2017.”


However, online payments were asked for by the university later with the assurance that the double payment would be refunded. “Even the Vice-Chancellor of University, Dr RS Sharma too assured us to refund the money at the earliest but in vain. Some students had borrowed money or had given extra burden on their parents to pay the examination fees twice but the university is not following the VC’s orders,” the students said to the FPJ.


A senior professor confirmed that he had paid for several students who had approached him for the duplicate payment, as they were confronted with the burden of it.


The total amount which the university is to be refunded is Rs 6,58,050; The amount having been transferred from the account of the college.
