100 MBBS students of Nuh Medical College get MCI recognition stamp
Gurugram: The first batch of 100 MBBS students of Shahid Hasan Khan Mewati (SHKM) Government Medical College in Nuh have got recognition from Medical Council of India (MCI).
The recognition stamp comes in pursuance to the inspection conducted by the Medical Council of India team. However, along with the said recognition to its 100 MBBS students, the MCI team found certain discrepancies in faculty at the medical college administration.
The recognition brings relief to the medicos, aats the apex medical regulator had earlier pulled up the medical college for its acute shortage of faculties, jeopardising its recogntion
Even now, while giving approval to the medical college batch, the MCI has directed the Medical college management to fill up the 13 % vacancies in its faculty.
Bearing the future MCI recognitions in mind, the Shahid Hasan Khan Mewati Government Medical College has already put up several advertisements for hiring. The last date for applying is December 30.
Director of SHKM medical college Yamini told TOI, “It is becoming quite difficult to recruit or retain faculty members. Not many are willing to stay in this area, which sees a lot of crimes, with their children. In the past one year, we have been able to bring down vacancies from 18% to 13%.”
