Woman dupes an elderly lady of Rs 54 lakh on the promise of MD seat for Grandson

Mumbai: An 83-year-old woman, Premlata Shivcharan Singh, a resident of Dadar has been allegedly cheated of Rs 54 lakh by a lady resident of a posh housing society in Worli, on the pretext of getting her grandson a medical seat.

Sunita Ashok Sharma, the accused in this case is a resident of Sukhada Co-Operative Society, a place of residence for the high profile of the country.

Mirror reports that Sharma 13:37:13was booked after Mrs. Singh lodged a police complaint stating that Sunita had taken a sum of Rs. 54 lakh from her, with the promise of getting her grandson an MD medical seat at MGM University of Health Sciences in Navi-Mumbai.

“When Singh realized that Sharma could not arrange the seat, she started demanding the money back. Sharma returned Rs 50,000,” senior inspector of Worli, Police Station Jitendra Pawar told the daily.
