“The leopard attacked the clerk when the latter reached close to the big cat. Subsequently, other staff members ran towards the animal with sticks and managed to make the big cat leave the building,” Narendra Singh Negi, station officer, Srinagar informed TOI. The injured clerk is now in a stable condition.
The big cat is hiding near the classrooms and the team was trying to get the animal out, he added.
District forest officer Laxman Singh said a team was rushed to the Srinagar Medical College and efforts to capture the leopard were underway. The entire staff of the medical college, including the doctors, teachers, students and residents are now on alert mode and the hostels have been vacated.
