Dr Yash Mir, was found hanging to a ceiling fan in his room at the medical college hostel premises, by some of his colleagues. The doctor had completed his MBBS course this year.
Ahmedabad: A 24-year-old intern doctor associated with GMERS affiliated Sola Medical College and Hospital allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at Medical College Hostel recently.
According to a media account, the deceased MBBS intern has been identified as one, Dr Yash Mir, and was discovered hanging to a ceiling fan in his room at the medical college hostel premises, by some of his colleagues. The doctor, a resident of Surendranagar district, had completed his MBBS course this year only.
When the doctor didn’t come to work on 16th October at the Sola Medical College and Hospital, his colleagues went looking for him and went to the hostel, where they found his room locked from inside. They reportedly got no answers to the constant knocks on the door. When they broke open the door, they found Dr Mir hanged to a ceiling fan.
The police were informed immediately after the college authorities got the news of the unfortunate incident. Subsequently, a case was registered.
The police are currently conducting an investigation. No reason for the alleged suicide has been found yet.
Investigating Officer ASI Kajal told Ahmedabad Mirror, “We got a message from Sola medical college that a medical student had committed suicide. He had hung himself from his room. His friends found him in that condition and informed the police. Further investigation is underway.”
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported about the suicide of a PG medical student of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Kadapa. The female student had committed suicide by hanging herself to a ceiling fan, owing to the stress of falling behind in her studies.
