Transfer of PGIMER, VMMC to DU: DGHS cancels proposal
New Delhi: The proposed transfer of Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital as well as PGIMER, RML Hospital from IP University to Delhi University had indeed not gone well with the students of IP university.

On the verge of losing their quota seats, if the transfer came into effect, students of both the medical colleges, were seen showing strong opposition. Throughout the week, students of VMMC were seen marching around their college as well as hospital showing their intense opposition to the said proposal.
On 29th July, 2016, 600 doctors and students from VMMC ACMS and NDMC gathered for a peaceful march against the "irrational proposal" by the Health Ministry. Students had threatened an indefinite strike from today if proposal were to go through any further.
In a good news for striking students, it is reported that the DGHS today issued an office memorandum, withdrawing the said proposal
In an office memorandum issued today, The Director General Health Services, Dr Jagdish Prasad was seen cancelling the proposal of transfer of VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital and RML Hospital from GGSIP University to Delhi university on part of DGHS office further adding that this will never happen.
