Tele-Barrier Nursing to prevent infections in ICUs : Jipmer
Jawaharlal Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) has started 'Tele-Barrier Nursing in ICUs. According to a Jipmer release, Jipmer is the first Government Hospital in the Country where 'Tele-Barrier Nursing in ICUs' has been started.
The service was inaugurated on 19th March 2016 by Director JIPMER Dr. S C Parija.He said infection in ICUs in Government Hospital is a common problem due to frequent visits of attendants of patients of ICUs. To solve this problem and allowing attendant to interact without entering in ICU 'Tele-Barrier Nursing Service' has been started.
In this service a Tablet (Computer with Camera, Mike & Speaker) is kept outside the ICU and other Tablet is given to the patient inside the ICU. Both patient and attendant can see and talk to each other in a real sense. This service is provided free to the attendants of Patients of ICUs. This service was initiated first by HOD of Plastic Surgery, Dr Ravi Kumar Chittoria for Burn Patients of 'JIPMER Tertiary Burn Centre (JTBC)' two years back and now being extended to ICUs of Super Speciality Block in the first phase.
