Medico allowed to continue a MBBS course without payment of fee
Chennai: In a rare move, the Sree Balaji Medical College in Chennai has recalled Sukanya, an MBBS student, who discontinued her studies due to the sudden demise of her father, to resume her study, free of cost, after a lapse of one and a half years. Sukanya has finally got the opportunity to complete her course left midway, due to disruption of fee payments after her father’s death.
Her plight first came to light in a report by the daily Indian Express, which was later picked up by TV news channels and social media users.
On Wednesday, when the college management gave her the good news G Sukanya was overjoyed at the thought that she would not have to worry about the monetary aspects of her medical course. As the family was left with no money since her father, a farmer, had already sold the lands to pay the fee for the first two years.
G Sukanya rejoined college on Thursday and plans to help students from economically weaker sections, after becoming a doctor herself reports TNIE.
