Tamil Nadu: Health minister opposes NEET and National Medical Commission Bill
Chennai: Tamil Nadu’s State Health Minister, C Vijay Bhaskar Reddy has in no uncertain terms stated the state’s opposition to both the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the National Medical Commission Bill.
Mr. Vijaya Baskar was speaking at the selection ceremony of the State President of the Indian Medical Association, Tamil Nadu State, held on Sunday.
The Association was also asked to sensitize other States about the proposed Bill by Health Secretary J. Radhakrishnan, who also participated in the ceremony.
Meanwhile, outgoing State President, S. Damodaran, stated that the IMA Tamil Nadu had a strength of 30,000 members across one hundred and fifty eight branches. T.N. Ravishankar was selected as the new state president. Issues such as the importance of the doctor-patient relationship were also discussed.
Geethalakshmi, Vice Chancellor, TN Dr. MGR Medical University and K. Prakasam, National Vice President elect were also among those who participated.
