Synergy between medical and dental sciences education: Seminar Held
Hyderabad: A seminar on Synergy between Medical and Dental Sciences, organised by ESIC Medical College and Super Speciality Centre, Hyderabad and the Army College of Dental Sciences (ACDS) was held at ESIC Medical College & Super Specialty Centre here on Saturday.
The one-day event is part of follow up to the MoU signed recently between these two colleges. Medical and Dental students of both institutions attended the programme.
The programme aims at better interaction and sharing of knowledge and ideas about medicine and dentistry between both institutes. This would provide a platform for further growth in field of medical dental education.
Experts from ACDS illuminated the medical students on intricacies nuances and fine art of dentistry and dental education. In addition, Brigadier Vivekanand, Commandant of Military Hospital, Secunderabad talked about the role of the Army Medical Corps (AMC) in the Armed Forces and Dr Anil Kumar Mulpur, CT Surgeon on consent and audit in practice of medicine and dentistry.
Dr Ravi Kiran spoke on the much important clinical communication skills. CME on "Widening clinical biochemistry horizons" also conducted by the senior doctors for the students of both institutions.
Major General N Srinivas Rao, Chairman, ACDS and GOC, TASA who inaugurated the programme emphasised the need for inter disciplinary knowledge and synergy between specialists as the future is in the collaborative research with expertise in own chosen fields. As students who have chosen a noble profession, he exhorted the young doctors to remember the ESI lighted lamp which symbolizes the lighting up of the lives of innumerable families.
Similarly they should endeavor to imbibe knowledge and work with empathy to bring good health and smiles in the patients they treat, he said.
