Srinagar Medical College: Three Orthopedic JRs suspended for ragging 1st year MBBS students
DEHRADUN: Three junior doctors associated with the orthopaedic department of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Government Medical College popularly known as Srinagar Medical College have been suspended on account of ragging the 2019 fresher batch of MBBS students.
The action comes after a written complaint was filed by 2019 batch students against the seniors to the anti-ragging committee of Medical Council of India (MCI).
Medical dialogues earlier reported that in their complaint, the fresher MBBS students alleged that they faced both psychological and physical torture exerted by the accused seniors. Medicos also submitted some concerned proof like audio recording in which the senior is pressuring and threatening the student over the phone call.
The matter was further forwarded to the medical college administration for investigation. The institute authorities assured that the required actions will be taken against the guilty.

College administration inquired with almost all 2019 batch students regarding the complaint. According to the recent media report, when the inquiry started, juniors also took back their complaint and said it was only the issue of assignments they have to make for the senior doctors.
However, despite this, the medical college suspended the doctors
CWS Rawat, Principal of the Medical college told TNIE,“Three doctors have been suspended regarding the case. Juniors, however, retract their complaint and submitted another statement stating that it was not ragging but the issue of assignments given to them by seniors.”
The college investigation is still on and since a complaint has been filed with the MCI, the medical college will be submitting its final report on the allegations. As per the regulations, if ragging is proved FIR will filed on the criteria of the University Grant Commission (UGC).
