SR Med College admission schedule revised
Kochi: The admission schedule for SR Medical College, Varkala has been revised by the Admission Supervisory Committee. The last date for submission of online applications to Management /NRI quota seats has been extended to September 19, 2016.
Though the prospectus approval had been granted to the college by ASC, KUHS informed the committee of SR Medical College not having been granted affiliation. This led to the committee withdrawing the granted prospectus approval. The college in turn approached the High Court on the matter.
A common order dated 08.09.2016 issued by the court gave a directive to KUHS to grant a provisional affiliation to the medical college, in order to enable it to grant admission to students, according to the schedule fixed by the ASC.
As per the court directive KUHS granted an affiliation to the Medical College, based on which the ASC issued an order dated 08.09.2016, restoring the order dated 02.09.16, as well as, the schedule of admissions contained in it.
The SR Medical College further clarifying the situation revealed that for want of affiliation , the name of the Medical College had been removed from the websites of the ASC and the CEE, leading to confusion among parents and students. Since the college has received only 337 applications, it requested the ASC to extend its time limit for receiving applications and publishing its rank list and admissions.
The ASC considering the college plea revised the admission schedule. However, it asked the medical college to publish the details of the 337 applications received. The college is also supposed to publish a final list after the last date of online application submission.
