Agra: The long-awaited and much need Gynaecology wing at the SN Medical College, a premier health facility of the district, with a footfall of 200 patients, every day, is expected to become operational from next month.
The hospital authorities, on Thursday, informed that the newly built extension will contain a 100 bedded ward, modular operation theatres(OT), ultrasound facilities and a special ward for the newborn. The early months will see 12 specialist doctors and a radiologist in the outpatient department of the wing.
Of the 200 footfall of gynae patients that visit the wing, around 30 get admitted. Earlier women patients were seen wandering around to different departments for medical tests, ultrasounds, consultations and deliveries. However-all this will change will hopefully change now, with all the facilities made available under one wing.
The hospital that was proposed to have started last year got delayed due to an incident in August, informed the hospital authorities. The inspection process of the newly constructed wing was later completed by a committee formed locally.
Dr Ajay Agarwal, Chief Medical Superintendent, S N Medical College, told TOI, “The inspection committee has submitted its final report. The wing will soon be operational. Earlier, we had only a single OT but now there will be four new OTs for female patients.”
