SMS Medical College: Dr Sudhir Bhandari takes charge of Principal
Jaipur: The Rajasthan government has appointed Dr Sudhir Bhandari as the officiating principal of city-based Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Medical College and Hospital. This pronouncement has reportedly put a stop to all the confusions that evolved during the assigning process by the state government.
Dr Sudhir Bhandari is a Senior Professor of Medicine at SMS Medical College & Hospital. He is a renowned Physician and Diabetologist & Fellow of Royal College Physicians (FRCP), London.
He has been bestowed with Rotary Foundation Fellowship in Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases at Cardiff (UK) and has been awarded Fellowship of American College Of Endocrinology (FACE) & Fellowship of American College Of Physicians (FACP) Fellowship of Indian College Of Physicians (FICP), Fellowship of Diabetes in India (FDI), Fellowship of Indian Society of Cardiology (FISC), Fellow of research society for the study of diabetes in India (FRSSDI).
As per his official website, Dr Bhandari has published over 80 articles in prestigious medical journals & contributed a chapter for the Textbooks on Hypertension, Diabetes & Cardio Vascular Disorders.
While resuming his duty as the new Principal and Controller of the SMS medical college and Hospital, Dr Bhandari stated to TOI, "SMS Hospital is one of the finest in the country and he will put in all his efforts to uphold the dignity of the medical institution. Patients from seven to eight neighbouring states come to SMS Hospital for treatment. This confirms that patients have faith on SMS Hospital. I will put in my efforts to build up this faith more and stronger."
"Giving boost to the clinical care, investigations, patients' satisfaction, research, teaching and education, will be the priority and it will be achieved by taking all the people (SMS medical college staff) along," he added in his statement.

The Times Of India reports that on 4th October, Health Minister Kalicharan Saraf had announced the name of Dr Deepak Mathur as an Acting Principal and Controller, while talking to newspersons at a programme, 'Perinatal Conference' held by Health Department at Birla Auditorium. However, the orders of Dr Mathur were not issued by that time.
The decision to appoint Dr Bhandari came following the nod from the honourable Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje, confirms a report by The PinkCity Post.
