Senior Doctor arrested for issuing FAKE Caste Certificates to BDS, MDS students of Nair Dental College
Mumbai: A senior doctor, who is being repeatedly named in several fake caste certificates scams, has recently been arrested for allegedly furnishing bogus Caste Certificates to candidates aspiring to get BDS and MDS admissions in Nair Dental Colleges. The medical practitioner had earlier issued fake caste certificates to MBBS aspirants for admission to Grant Medical College.
The case relates to a 65-year old city-based doctor, who was taken into custody from the Arthur road jail following a complaint by the administration officer of Nair Dental College.
Last year, 4 MBBS students associated with the JJ Hospital's Grant Medical College were booked for securing admission by way of fake caste certificates. Medical Dialogues had reported that the mastermind of this racket who was identified as Dr Mirza against whom more than 10 cases had been registered already. Dr Mirza had reportedly forged hundreds of backward class certificates and facilitated admissions to MBBS and other medical courses.

In the present case, the accused doctor allegedly collected over Rs 3 lakh for the fake caste certificate from a dental student. The illegal act was revealed after the scrutiny of caste certificates, which were submitted by the students enrolling for BDS and MDS courses during the yearly common entrance test conducted by the state.
Later on, Nair Dental College was apprised by the Directorate of Technical Education that a few of the certificates issued by the candidates were "dubious". A probe was launched and it was found that many dental students had submitted fake caste certificates while enrolling in various courses between 2014 and 2015.
The medical practitioner was arrested by the Nagpada police in the present case and was produced in the court. As per a Mid-Day report, he was charged with forgery, breach of trust and cheating.
