    RIMS to have a new Director: JP Nadda

    RIMS to have a new Director: JP Nadda

    IMPHAL: Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), is going to have a new Director soon.The Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda made the announcement at a political conference held at Yumjao Lairembi ground where he was invited as Chief Guest for the occasion. Mr Nadda also declared that due measures had been initiated to increase the number of PG seats in Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS). Both the announcements come as significant go aheads.


    Addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the interview date for appointment of RIMS Director had been fixed and the institute was on its way to having a head soon.


    Speaking about the various projects and schemes initiated to improve healthcare infrastructure, the Minister informed that out of the two crore babies delivered every year , ninety lac went without vaccinations. However, due to the Ministry of Health endeavor, 50 lac were being vaccinated every year now.


    Elaborating further, the Minister said that as against the seven infectious diseases that children were vaccinated for earlier, they are now being protected against twelve. He revealed that of the 10 lac brought to hospitals annually, one lac die.


    Mr. Nadda spoke of a 102 ambulances having been provided by the Ministry which could be used by women patients to visit health centres/hospitals at the time of child birth. The Minister also spoke about introduction of heli ambulances being in the pipeline, for the state of Manipur.


    He also encouraged health workers to formulate healthcare schemes and submit them to their CMO’s, as the central government would provide funds for their implementation. He alerted the people of the state to keep a vigil to ensure that the National Health Mission funds were not swindled or misappropriated.


    The Minister in a lighter vein commented on the demonetization move of the Prime Minister saying that it would now call for the introduction of a mobile application for stress management of the rich with black money.


    Numerous political dignitaries were present on the occasion.
